MakeFeed is a comprehensive feed formulation software, designed to combine the expertise, knowledge and standards of recent technologies in the field of poultry nutrition. It provides the integrated and efficient solutions for balanced formulation of rations for various classes of poultry, which would be of immense help for the poultry farmers, entrepreneurs, scientists, teachers and students alike. The software was developed by a team of scientists comprising Dr. M. Nath, Dr. A.V. Elangovan, Dr. A.B. Mandal and Dr. T.S. Johri of Central Avian Research Institute, Izatnagar, Bareilly.

1. MakeFeed is a Windows based unique software for efficient balanced formulation of feed.
2. MakeFeed is user-friendly and persons having little computer knowledge can utilize it effectively.
3. It takes into account the nutrient requirements of a wide variety of poultry birds like layer and broiler chickens, quails, guinea fowls, ducks, turkey as well as for concentrates for maximum production performance.
4. It gives easy and quick access to feed ingredients and their inclusion or deletion from desired ration.
5. It has unlimited and easy data storage facility for ingredients and nutrient specification in Ingredients database.
6. It provides exhaustive information on nutritive values for a wide range of feed ingredients along with the maximum inclusion level for each ingredient.
7. The user has options to edit the complete database of feed ingredients and modify it suitably. Simple and easy modification, addition or deletion of particular feed ingredient.
8. The user can select a particular ration from the database and the nutrient requirement for that ration will be displayed automatically.
9. The user also has the option to give his own requirements in the custom ration and formulate accordingly.
10. It has three simple and easy steps in ration formulation.
    Step 1: Select the ingredients; Step 2: Select the ration specification and Step 3: Enter the choice of ration viz. simple balanced ration or balanced least cost ration.
11. All conditions for balanced ration formulation are made by default and no user intervention is needed
12. User also has choice to modify default options on ingredient restrictions or nutrient restrictions.
13. Facility to add up to 50 ingredients in a ration.
14. Apart from the default conditions that must satisfy the formulated feed, the users can add, modify or delete those conditions for the preparation of feed as required by them.
