CLFMA participates in USDA’s Trade Mission reception

CLFMA participated in the reception held during the agricultural trade mission, the first led by Ted McKinney, Undersecretary for Trade and Foreign Agricultural Affairs, U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).

 

Beginning Oct. 30, Undersecretary McKinney is leading a delegation consisting of over 50 businesses, trade associations such ASTA (American Seed Trade Association), and senior leaders from a US government who were on a five-day trade mission to India. As one of the USDA’s invitees, Mr. Raghavan Sampathkumar, Executive Director, CLFMA of India participated in the reception held at Sofitel, Mumbai.

 

During his discussion with Undersecretary McKinney, Raghavan briefed him CLFMA’s contribution for the last 50 years in representing India’s animal protein sector and its lineage as one of the oldest and prominent industry associations. Also discussions were held with the analysts from USDA and the members of the delegation on prospects for taking the two-way trade between the US and India in the meat and allied sectors to the next level and also other issues including import of DDGS.

 

B Soundararajan, Chairman of CLFMA of India commented that it was a useful opportunity to mutually understand the challenges and opportunities on both sides and also to explore synergies between the two countries in meeting India’s growing demand for animal protein efficiently and sustainably.
