MakeFeed is a comprehensive feed formulation software, designed to combine the expertise, knowledge and standards of recent technologies in the field of Dairy nutrition. It is a simple, efficient and effective tool for formulation of rations for cattle and buffalo, which would be immensely helpful for dairy nutritionists, farmers, entrepreneurs, scientists, teachers and students alike. The software has been developed by a team of scientists comprising Drs. M. Nath, A.V. Elangovan, A.B. Mandal, T.S. Johri and R. V. Singh of Central Avian Research Institute, Izatnagar, Bareilly.

Salient Features:

The present computer package MakeFeed Dairy has the sole objective to prepare the best feeds for cattle and dairy animals that would be optimum in all nutrients as well as minimum in cost. The software will be of immense benefit for both of small-scale farmers to feed industry manufacturers. The feeding cost alone being the major constraint in dairy enterprise, every effort has been directed to contain feed cost maintaining feed quality following optimum requirements of various nutrients including energy, protein, minerals etc for concentrate preparation. It would also help in preparation of whole ration with the best combination of other feed resources. In this package, safe/effective inclusion levels of different feed ingredients have been considered for the formulation of rations.

MakeFeed Dairy is a Windows based unique software for efficient balanced formulation of concentrate and whole ration for different age groups cattle and buffalo for cost-effective maximum production performance. It provides information on nutritive values for a wide range of feed ingredients along with the maximum inclusion level for each ingredient. The users have options to edit the complete database of feed ingredients and modify suitably, add or delete particular feed ingredient due to change in nutritive composition and availability of feed ingredients.

The users should first select the feed ingredient that they want to include in the ration. Then they should decide the particular type of ration to be prepared by using MakeFeedDairy software. The nutritive values of various types of formulated feeds would be available by default. However, users could also enter the nutritive values (like Crude Protein, Total Digestible Nutrient etc.) as per their choice. MakeFeed Dairy would give users options to formulate the concentrate and whole ration that would be the least in cost. Apart from the default conditions that must satisfy the formulated feed, the users can add, modify or delete those conditions for the preparation of feed as required by them.

The cost of the software package is Rupees 2000/- only, which includes the compact disc containing the software and a comprehensive user manual.
